Back in the day, Carol Weinstock produced some of the most talented students at Ventura College and that continues to this day. Weinstock has been the Journalism instructor for Ventura College for 29 years, 16 part- and 13 full-time. She has instructed classes in mass communications, writing, production and copyediting.
She has taken her students to countless journalism competitions and won many prestigious awards in all fields of journalism. They are displayed all around the walls of the journalism room.
"I have the best students on campus in my opinion" Weinstock said.
Although her retirement was taken advantage of by the district board to close the journalism program altogether, Weinstock still keeps up student morale to continue to produce the final issue of the award-winning paper.
Weinstock plans to return to her native land, Canada, 6 to 8 months after the spring semester ends.
"It's always gratifying to see students grow over the semester as they start as writers or photographers and grow into great jobs or transfer to university," Weinstock said.
