The VC Press welcomed this latecomer in with open arms after I missed the enrollment date. Being from Texas with no portfolio to back me up, my future looked very dim. I was thrilled to take a position as press photographer, my first experience of how a newspaper is assembled and an opportunity to build my personal portfolio. I have become a better photojournalist and now have a good idea what it takes to produce a newspaper. I thank the VC press for teaching me more than I ever expected to learn in five short months and for giving an overdue Texan a chance.
